ISC has successfully completed a major upgrade of a 110 user Dynamics GP system for a U.S. group of companies operating in the I.T technologies sector. The project involved upgrading through 9 major release versions of Dynamics GP in one pass – from Dynamics GP v 6.0 (2001) to Dynamics GP 2015 R2 (2016). It was necessary to modernise the customisations and integration links between Dynamics GP and separate Service Management and Customer Service systems that the group operated.
The go-live phase was planned and rehearsed to ensure it could be completed within a finite time window – to ensure no downtime on core operating periods. Staff finished on Dynamics GP v6.0 at close of business on a Friday and then logged into Dynamics GP 2015 R2 on the following Monday morning. ISC utilised a pre-built set of Virtual Servers each with corresponding versions of Microsoft Windows Server o/s and SQL Server database to be compatible with the Dynamics GP versions at the various time periods since 2001. For example, Microsoft SQL Server started on SQL Server 2000 and finished on SQL Server 2014. The Dynamics GP data was then upgraded on the first Virtual Server and then moved from server to server with the corresponding upgrade process being carried out on each. Comments are closed.
